Do we have any idea, in canon? From the way he and the Doctor always seem to be on the same timeline, and the fact they were children together, it seems to be a reasonable assumption that he's the same age as the Doctor - but I can't find anything that says anything about his age!

(And no, this thought was not inspired by me trying to put together a profile of the Master so I can join in Becky's RP game. Not at all. I DON'T HAVE THE TIME!

Yeah. Tell that to the Master. *g*)

Wow – I made it! 10 things I hold to be my personal canon in Doctor Who. Nearly all of these are comments on the relationships between the main characters, because that seems to be what I'm interested in.

10 Personal Canon facts - Doctor Who )

And since I'm here, let me tell you my viewing plans, because they're very much tied up with what I write:

Once I've finished my Nine/Jack piece, I intend to watch at least the first couple of episodes of Torchwood – partly so I can write [info]_medley_'s drabble which requested Jack and Owen. I also need to rewatch The Runaway Bride because [info]smithy161 requested Donna.

And I also need to rewatch one or all of the Master episodes of S3 so I can get going on Master Plan again.

After that… on with Torchwood, and then, DW S2, probably interspersed with TW S2 as it airs!

Very interesting discussion going on over here about how little we actually know about Jack Harkness. (And a few other things by now, but most of it's about Jack!)

OMG – Captain Jack is Spike from Press Gang!
I was just thinking about The Doctor Dances prior to writing up my review of it (I watched it last night), and I was remembering Rose's chewing of her lip and smouldering eyes and trying to think what they reminded me of – and then it came to me – Lynda from Press Gang!

Cut for length )

I've just worked it out. The reason there (apparently) weren't any escape attempts from the gang on the Valiant for a whole year until the very day before the Master's launch day is that they weren't trying to escape. The Doctor had told Martha to 'use the countdown' - because she needed time to spread the word, and one specific moment for everyone to think of the Doctor - and until then, or nearly then, there was absolutely no point in trying to bring down the Master.

Probably this was blindingly obvious to everyone else and I'm just being really slow.

Mind you, they could have thrown in a few 'fake' attempted escapes, to keep the Master occupied.

Nicked off [info]fandom_me

1. Comment to this post with the name of a character that I have written in fic. Or geeked out about.
2. I will comment telling you the following:
a. What initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her.
b. One of his/her best traits.
c. One of his/her worst traits.
d. How easy/difficult I find it to write the character.
e. The story/chapter/paragraph/phrase where I feel that I truly captured the character*.
f. My plans (if any) to write the character in the near future.

(By the way, I'll be a bit absent this evening, as we have friends coming over for dinner, but I should be back for an hour or two before bedtime.)

ETA Sorry, but obviously I don't have time to reply to these right away (friends are due in 45 minutes) but I'll try and think up answers while I shower and post them later on. :-)
